When there is any kind of construction going on somewhere or tools lying around, Owen is one happy boy! He has always liked bulldozers, front loaders, cranes, etc and loves watching them work. So, when they started working on the basement, Owen was right there. Every afternoon when the workers leave, he goes down there to see what they did for the day. He then takes his play tools down there and tells Neil and me that it is going to be too loud for us while he does his work so we need to go upstairs. He does some "work" and then comes back upstairs and tells us he will do more tomorrow.
The basement work was started on June 22 and they have gone FAST! Granted, it is only a 572 sq. ft. basement but still, it has been fast! It should be done in the next couple of weeks. We have been very pleased with the contractor we went with. He comes to the house everyday to make sure things are going smoothly and asks us how we are doing and if we are satisfied so far. He keeps us very informed which we think is very important. All the workers have been going through the window to the basement so there has been no traffic through the house except for big deliveries like the shower and drywall. They have also somehow kept the basement relatively clean!
The first pictures are of before and then the framing. Then the last ones are of the drywall. They are texturing and painting the walls this week as well as putting in the doors and trim. Then flooring and lights and we have a finished basement ladies and gentlemen!! :)
