Cross Country Trips with Kids are NOT for wimps!

On May 28th, we packed up everything we owned (at least it felt like that!) and strapped the kids (and the dog) into the car and started our trip across the country to Virginia (for me and the kids) and to Alabama (for Neil). We stayed in Topeka, KS the 1st night, Mascouteh, IL the 2nd night and then Knoxville, TN the 3rd night. In Knoxville, we broke off from each other and Neil went south and I continued east to Richmond! The kids were AMAZING travelers and we could not have asked for them to be any better. Even with that said, when we pulled into my mom and dad's driveway, we were ALL READY to get out of the car and not get back into it for a few days! We arrived in Richmond on May 31st and were greeted by extremely hot temps and dry conditions. The high temperatures kept us from doing a lot of the outdoor type things we would have liked to do but that is ok, it allowed us for good quality time at home! We really enjoyed being with mom and dad for so long and being able to see Emily and Lydia (and Greg and Denise) for more than just one visit! Owen was even able to do VBS with Emily at her church. He had a blast! Of course, as usual, the time went by way too fast and we are now back in Colorado!

Trip stats:
3400 miles traveled (not including all the miles in Virginia and North Carolina)
10 states visited or driven through: Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Indiana (we took a different way on the way back)
7 hotels stayed in: Kansas (2), Illinois (2), Kentucky (2) and Virginia (river trip with mom and dad)
2 houses lived in: Virginia and North Carolina

This post is mainly pictures so enjoy!
