On October 7th, we left COLD Colorado (it was in the 40s when we left) and arrived in HOT Florida to visit Neil's Grandpap, Aunt Kay and Uncle Ken, and of course, go to Disney World and Sea World! When we landed at 4:30 pm EST, it was 95 degrees in Florida! Ouch! When we planned this trip, we picked October so that it would be a LITTLE cooler...ha!
Our hotel was awesome...free cooked to order breakfast every morning, free shuttle to and from the parks, pool right outside of our door and free Disney movies every night by the pool. We were lucky enough to have Neil's mom and dad come down from Raleigh to spend the vacation with us. It allowed Neil and me to have a date night! WOO HOO! Those only come like once every year now!
Our first day there, we woke up and had breakfast with Neil's Grandpap and Aunt Kay! It was so good to see them since Neil has not seen them since our wedding! I was fortunate to see them at Ellen's wedding when Owen was just 7 months old! Seeing Grandpap meet Claire for the first time was very special. I know he loved seeing how much Owen had grown up too since the last time he saw him! After a nice visit with them, we headed on over to the Magic Kingdom. We did all the normal touristy type things that day...all in the 103 degree heat index! The kids were super though and we were lucky to have the Menzies there to help when one kid was sleeping or one, no names mentioned, did not want to ride the ride.
We did Epcot on Friday and we all really enjoyed that! Epcot was always my favorite growing up and I loved that Owen had the most fun there! Once again, we braved the 103 degree heat index!
Sea World was Saturday and Magic Kingdom again on Sunday! Owen had fun but I think the most fun for him was swimming every night in the kiddie pool and watching movies with his "best friends" as he called them. He also had a girlfriend who watched the movies with him most nights. It was so cute! Claire was amazing..she braved the heat, slept when she could in the stroller and still remained in WONDERFUL spirits! She is definitely our water baby though! She LOVED playing in the water and splashing around. Exact opposite of Owen though..she loved getting her face wet and he HATES it! Amazing how each kid can be so different!
Even though it was VERY hot, we all enjoyed ourselves and the company! The day we left, we drove up to Charleston, SC to stay the night and to see Neil's cousin Beth. Cindy took a picture of her meeting Claire, but I did not get one. It was a nice visit though! After staying one night in Charleston, we drove the rest of the way up to Raleigh and stayed the rest of the week with Neil's parents. Neil left on the 18th and I went on up to Richmond to stay for 2 weeks with my mom and dad (pictures on the blog above!)
I loved having time with Neil as a family..away from work! Disney World was a lot of fun and we made a lot of good memories to share with the kids as they grow up!
You can see how blurry the camera lens was from the humidity! A camera from Colorado is not used to that :)
This is how happy Claire was the ENTIRE time! She made so many people in the park smile and stop to talk to her! It was awesome!
our little Princess in training :) Before we know it, she will be dressing up as Cinderella and stealing her daddy's heart!
Claire enjoying It's A Small World! (my favorite ride when I visited Disney World for the first time at the age of 4!)
Getting ready to enjoy a nice, cool lunch indoors at Germany in Epcot!
This is the way Owen was most of the time. In his stroller. We had to beg him to ride most of the rides. He really needed to be one year older to really enjoy the park. If we wanted a family picture, we just parked him in front of wherever we were :) This is on the 11th...Claire turned 7 months old at Disney World :)
