One of the MANY perks of living in Colorado Springs.....

is getting to watch the Thunderbirds do an air show after the Air Force Academy graduation! This is the 3rd year we have done this and just like the last two, it turned out to be such fun! We had to get there about an hour and a half before the graduation ended so that we could get a good spot but it was a pretty day so waiting was not a problem. I stopped at Subway before leaving and got us some lunch AND chocolate chip cookies so that made the wait worth it for the kids!
Once the show started, Claire was happy to be playing in the van, Ian was asleep WITH the windows and sunroof open (and as you can imagine, they are LOUD!), and Owen was amazed! Claire kept saying "Airplane Loud" and covering her ears! Give her another year or so and she will enjoy watching them as well! I have seen the Thunderbirds do an air show 5 times now and I still get chills. There is just something about these jets flying around Pikes Peak that makes you proud to be alive AND to be American!
God Bless our Troops during this Memorial Day weekend as well as every day!

If you knew how far we were from the stadium (across an interstate and up a hill, not to mention how far the stadium is from the interstate on that side of the road) then you would appreciate how awesome our zoom on our camera is!

Being silly while we wait for the Thunderbirds and the two youngest sleep!

Notice Claire in the background! :)

Ian finally woke up so his turn for a picture! Notice Owen in the background! haha

 Brotherly love!

This is a rare occasion!

She would only smile once the picture was snapped! Goof ball!

Entertaining herself!

 Our little Monkey!

And here they are!

 ahhh!!

The pointed building in the background is the Chapel. Thought this turned out kind of neat!

The stadium is at the bottom of the picture...now you can kind of see how far we were...and this is zoomed in some too!

I have been upset that Pikes Peak still has snow on it in May but it made for neat pictures!

They were too fast for me to get them when they flew right over us!!
